DAVID BECKHAM has sparked a race for his signature after going behind Fabio CapelloÂ’s back to attend Tom CruiseÂ’s wedding in Rome.
The Real Madrid boss is fuming and that has alerted Blackburn, Bolton, Charlton, Celtic, Inter and AC Milan along with USA clubs LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls.
Capello yesterday confirmed he did not give the midfield ace permission to leave Madrid ahead of CruiseÂ’s showbiz wedding to actress Katie Holmes tonight.
Club officials later claimed BeckhamÂ’s trip had been approved but Capello clearly had no idea and will not take kindly to being exposed.
The Real boss insisted Becks had to stay in Madrid even though a knee injury ruled him out of tonightÂ’s match against Racing Santander.
He said: “David is injured. He has to stay in Madrid and work.”
When asked directly if that meant Beckham would have to miss the wedding of the year, Capello replied: “That’s not my problem.”
Beckham, 31, trained in the gym yesterday because of his injury.
But only minutes after CapelloÂ’s comments, the former England skipper had been photographed in Italy, sparking confusion at the Bernabeu.
Becks admitted last month he is unhappy at being overlooked by Capello and that he would consider his future if he was continually sub.
Real president Ramon Calderon confirmed recently Beckham has not responded to an offer of a two-year extension of his contract.
Bernabeu director Pedrag Mijatovic said: “Beckham wants to think about it with his people because his contract ends in June and a lot of clubs could call him. He hasn’t responded to us.”
