Mourinho said Claude Makelele and Ashley Cole will be rested for Chelsea's Champions League tie with Levski Sofia on Tuesday ahead of their Premiership game at home to Arsenal next Sunday.
Wayne Bridge will replace Cole, but Mourinho did not say who would deputise for the France international in the midfield holding role. -

Chelsea deny Shevchenko reports
Chelsea have denied reports that Andriy Shevchenko is ready to leave the club if manager Jose Mourinho decides he does not fit into his plans. The 30-year-old, who signed for £30.8m in May, was quoted as saying his "game doesn't suit Mourinho" and he is "ready to pack his bags" and go back to Italy.
But a Chelsea statement insisted the comments were misinterpreted from an interview in a Russian magazine.
The Ukraine striker has been linked with a return to AC Milan.
Mourinho, whose team host Arsenal in Sunday’s crunch clash, added: “Sheva is not untouchable because of the way he is playing. "Makelele , Essien, Lampard, Ballack, Terry, Carvalho, A Cole, Drogba are all untouchables.
I belief Mourinho is trying to motivate his players before the gunners match by saying they are untouchable... but it may actually work tho...

COLE DESERVES ABUSE - LEHMANN
JENS LEHMANN has urged Arsenal fans to put the boot in on Ashley Cole during SundayÂ’s Premiership showdown at Chelsea. And the German hit out at former Gunners ace Cole for slagging the club in his controversial autobiography after moving to the Blues in August.
Keeper Lehmann, 37, said: “Of course he should get stick on Sunday. That is what makes football so exciting. “If our fans just ignored him that would mean he was not an important player for them.
As SunSport revealed yesterday, Gunners fans already plan to wave thousands of fake £20 notes bearing the face of the left-back they have dubbed ‘Cashley’.
Lehmann also took a swipe at the England star’s book, adding: “Why would I want to read it? "I’m not interested in reading books from 25-year-old players who would like to tell me about their big experience.
"He’s probably made some mistakes to write a book while he’s still so young.”
Yet Lehmann insists he does not harbour any personal grudges. -
