Buffon and Camaronesi accuse ref of deliberately making bad decisions against Juve
Gigi Buffon and Mauro Camoranesi have accused referee Stefano Farina of “punishing” Juventus with errors.
The club was demoted to Serie B this season for putting pressure on referees to favour their side, but complained about their treatment in last nightÂ’s 1-1 draw at Genoa.
“I accept that we have to pay the price for some past issues, but you don’t restore justice by giving incorrect decisions against Juve,” warned Buffon.
The goalkeeper saved a debatable penalty, Raffaele PalladinoÂ’s goal was disallowed and later saw Pavel Nedved sent off at Marassi.
“Farina was not having a good night and it’s a shame to say it, as Genoa were playing very well and would’ve done regardless. Now it’s happening like it did in the past, where we used to win and everyone gave the credit to the referee.”
Teammate Camoranesi turned his anger towards the fans, who held up banners before kick-off giving their verdict on Juventus as ‘guilty thieves’.
“It’s ironic to hear ourselves called thieves by those who two years ago were caught with a suitcase full of money,” smiled the Argentine.
Genoa were set to be promoted into Serie A when they were found guilty of trying to bribe Venezia into throwing their game. The club was demoted to Serie C1.
