CHELSEA boss Jose Mourinho has finally given up on £21million flop Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Mourinho is now ready to loan him out in January which signals a major change of heart on the most expensive reserve in Premiership history.
Chelsea had refused to let Wright-Phillips go out on loan and claimed they were only interested in a permanent deal with West Ham, Portsmouth, Manchester City and Everton having signalled some interest in the England international.
City boss Stuart Pearce has called on his chairman John Wardle to dip into his own personal fortune to take Wright-Phillips back to the club.
He left 18 months ago to join Chelsea and City have twice tried to get him back on loan.
But with debts of around £50m, City do not have the funds to buy back Wright- Phillips and Pearce said: "Shaun will attract ourselves and a number of clubs because he is a very good player.
"The chairman has the financial clout to do it, but from his own pocket, not from money within the football club. That's the only way it could be done. But he's already put £20m in and that's a sizeable chunk of anyone's fortune."
Chelsea accept Wright- Phillips needs games to save his career having failed to make an impact at Chelsea in the past 18 months. -

WRIGHT-PHILLIPS BACK TO CITY?
Shaun Wright-Phillips could be heading back to Manchester City, according to the Sunday Mirror.
They report Jose Mourinho may offer the England international to his former club in an attempt to tempt them to part with Micah Richards.
Chelsea want to add more defensive cover to their squad next month and the rising star is seen as their prime target.
The Stamford Bridge club are also said to be in a £10million battle with Inter Milan for Brazilian wonderkid Alexander Pato. -

Stay at City for now.No other place for him to go to.Big 4 barring Chelsea already have established RB.Utd's Neville getting old but he's a skipper.If richards come he wud be on the bench anyway.So stay at City! -

this will serve as a good lesson for budding players that a big club is not always the best career.
