Mark Crossley, remarking recently on Fulham's decision to allow him to join Sheffield Wednesday on loan, said: 'I am grateful to them because although I have slipped in the goalkeeping pecking order there, I think they like having me around the place. I'm known as a bit of a character, keeping the dressing-room buzzing and that kind of thing.'
This was certainly the case in the Wednesday dressing room, after the 37-year-old Welshman had scored the goal that brought his team an improbable 3-3 draw with Southampton after they had been 2-0 and then 3-1 down. Glenn Whelan scored Wednesday's first two goals and, in stoppage time, Crossley, whose claims to fame include being one of only two keepers to have saved an FA Cup penalty in normal or extra time (the other is Dave Beasant) took centre stage at the other end of the field. He moved up for a corner, and headed in Chris Brunt's kick to deny Southampton a sixth win in seven matches. -

supreme at marshalling his team, with a pride which was awe-inspiring... and perhaps that pride made them achieve more than what seemed achievable on paper..

Ceni doesn't inspire the team like Chilavert does...
some things can't be seen in statistics

where's taibi now by the way?
i think matt le tessier was faithful to Southampton out and out. SAF wanted to sign him but he staunchly refused to move.
haiz, this is like the true blood patriot warriors of the olden days. Another one is Shearer. If he has moved to Man U, things would have been so different. -
