Milan captain Paolo Maldini insists the next few months could decide his future in the game.
The veteran defender is considering hanging up his boots, after a recent string of injuries forced him to spend long periods on the sidelines.
The player, who was speaking from Milan's training camp in Malta, has suggested that although he feels fit at the moment he will wait until the end of the season to decide his future.
"There is still the possibility of retiring. We will have to see what happens in the next few months," said Maldini.
"Now I feel good, my muscle problem has recovered, and I am ready to do whatever the coach asks me to do."
Milan officials would like Maldini to carry on for one more season but the player will decide in June where his future lies.
