Reds Give Jose The Blues
Goals from Dirk Kuyt and Jermaine Pennant inside the first 20 minutes were enough to give Liverpool a 2-0 victory over reigning Premiership champions Chelsea in Saturday's lunchtime clash.
Kuyt capitalised on uncertainty in the Chelsea backline to latch onto Jamie Carragher's long ball and give the Reds a fourth-minute lead.
Just 14 minutes later Pennant collected the ball on the right-hand side before lashing an unstoppable 30-yard drive beyond Petr Cech, making his first appearance for Chelsea since his head injury against Reading in October. -

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho:
Even in defeat, Mourinho could not resist a dig at his opposite number Benitez. "Liverpool are happy and deserve to be so because they deserved to win," said the Portuguese. "But they would still prefer to change position with us, to be second and not third and to still be in all the cups.
"Our situation is much better than many teams, including Liverpool, we are in a better position than them."
"There were definitely mistakes with people not adapting to their positions. "I was waiting for 15 or 20 minutes to go by with no goals conceded and the confidence arriving. But when the team is very fragile on the pitch and mentally not so self confident it is difficult.

Benitez had little sympathy for Chelsea's injury situation:

think there is still some sort of a miscommunication on the pitch with the players, they suddenly seem to lost understanding of each other, see ballack and drogba during the free kick incident? or the look on mourinho face when sub was made for schev.. anyone saw his grim look?

frankly i think he is fast losing form. it is stupid of chelsea to think they can rely on him. nobody can score super goals throughout the whole season. -
