Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is refusing to rule out a move for Andrei Shevchenko, but at the same time he is willing to accept it would not be an easy transfer to negotiate.
Since swapping Milan for Chelsea in the summer Shevchenko has endured the proverbial nightmare, having struggled for form and goals in West London.
His relationship with Jose Mourinho would appear to be at breaking point, with talk of his signing being instigated by Roman Abramovich rather than his coach doing little to ease unrest at Stamford Bridge.
At Milan, though, Shevchenko continues to be a hugely popular figure and Ancelotti remains a firm admirer of the once prolific striker.
"Sheva remains one of the family members, even if he's at another club," said Ancelotti.
"But it's difficult for him to come back. Maybe, should there be Milan's and his will, Chelsea's could be missing."
If Ancelotti elects not to pursue a move for Shevchenko then he could turn his sights to either Juventus' David Trezeguet or Real Madrid misfit Ronaldo.
"I don't know how many goals Trezeguet would have scored but he's surely one of the most important strikers out there," he added.
"And Milan have the habit of thinking big.
"Ronaldo? He's a big player too. In June we will see."
