Phillips a £21m buy from
Manchester City in July 2005. MANCHESTER CITY boss Stuart Pearce has given up hope of signing Shaun Wright-Phillips on loan.Wright-Phillips, 25, has struggled to establish himself at Chelsea since leaving City for £21million in July 2005. The England winger is determined to fight for his future with the champions but he still cannot get a regular game — even with Andriy Shevchenko and Joe Cole out injured.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho will not release any of his players on short-term deals and Pearce has been priced out of a move. He said: "We have been quoted a price that is a million miles away from our budget. That is the end of it really.
"The message I have received from Chelsea is they do not want to loan the likes of Shaun — and I am sure that applies to the rest of their players as well. "If they wanted to sell the boy, any deals to be done would come down to straight finance."
