Ooijer was in great pain after picking up the injury
Blackburn's Dutch defender Andre Ooijer will miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken leg during his side's 3-0 win over Manchester City.
The incident happened when he fell awkwardly after accidentally tangling with City striker Bernardo Corradi.
His father Willy van de Kerkhof told Dutch TV that Ooijer had broken his fibula and torn ankle ligaments.
"I spoke with Andre on the phone and he was very down, though this injury will not end his career," he added.
"His knee is not really damaged like we feared."
The 32-year-old, a regular for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Germany, joined Blackburn on a two-year deal last July for an undisclosed fee after 10 years at PSV Eindhoven.
