PREVIEW-Arsenal's young guns trained on Spurs
LONDON, Jan 29 - Bragging rights in north London and a place in the League Cup final will be at stake when Arsenal's youngsters host Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday. Premier League champions Chelsea await the winners in Cardiff on Feb. 25, with the bookies backing Arsenal after a 2-2 draw in last week's semi-final first leg at White Hart Lane.
Arsenal will expect to extend a 16-game unbeaten record against Spurs in all competitions since 1999. Tottenham, with a full-strength side, took a 2-0 lead and looked set for a trip to the Millennium Stadium until Arsenal's second string hit back with a double-strike from Julio Baptista.
The Brazilian, who scored four in Arsenal's quarter-final demolition of Liverpool, is bound to start at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, probably alongside Jeremie Aliadiere. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger faces a tough decision, though, over whether to field or rest teenage Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, the architect of last week's fightback.
Fabregas was fizzing about the pitch in Sunday's 1-1 FA Cup draw with Bolton Wanderers and will be needed again for Saturday's Premier League trip to Middlesbrough. Spurs, who were trounced 3-0 by Arsenal's first team in the league on Dec. 2, have few options but to attack as the away goals rule will come into operation if it finishes scoreless after 90 minutes and extra time.
Manager Martin Jol hopes Egypt forward Mido recovers from a back problem after being taken off late in Saturday's 3-1 FA Cup win over Southend -- having scored the killer third goal. Fellow strikers Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe will also be bidding for a start, though the biggest threat to Arsenal could come from livewire England winger Aaron Lennon, now on fine form after injury. -

MIDO IS TOLD: GET SPURS TO FINAL - THEN LEAVE US
TOTTENHAM boss Martin Jol is ready to offload Egyptian striker Mido to Celta Vigo - but only after asking him to fire Spurs into the final of the Carling Cup.
Dutchman Jol has set up a deal to loan Mido to the Spanish club with their Brazilian winger Nene - real name Anderson Luiz de Carvalho - going in the opposite direction. It leaves Spurs short of strikers but they will wait until the summer before making a bid to sign Charlton's Darren Bent, who did not want to go to West Ham because of the chance of a move to White Hart Lane.
However, Jol is hoping that if he can get through tonight's Carling Cup semi-final he will have Dimitar Berbatov ready to return after a groin injury, and he already has Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane. Nene will solve Spurs' left-sided problem as they missed out on Stewart Downing and Ashley Young in the January transfer window and want some natural width down that flank.
Manchester City and Newcastle both wanted Mido but his £35,000-aweek wage demands put both of them off and a loan swap deal involving Nene is the ideal solution. Mido has fallen out with Jol just months after signing for the club permanently following an 18-month loan spell at White Hart Lane.
Jol is taking a big risk playing Mido at the Emirates tonight, then expecting him to sign for Celta Vigo after the game. But Spurs have come to the conclusion that the Egyptian is not the longterm answer to their striker problems and Bent is on their summer hitlist.
Meanwhile, Spurs have missed out on Southampton's Gareth Bale after the 17-year-old defender decided to stay at St Mary's until the end of the season. -

Jeremie Aliadiere smashed home in extra time to finally break Spurs' resistance and help fire Arsenal to a Carling Cup final place against rivals Chelsea.
The Gunners dominated a lively tie and took the lead when Emmanuel Adebayor slipped in Tomas Rosicky's pass neatly.
Spurs sent the game into extra time against the odds when Mido headed in.
But Arsenal sealed a 5-3 aggregate win when Aliadiere got onto Ricardo Rocha's slip and Pascal Chimbonda's unfortunate own goal ruined Spurs' comeback hopes.

Gareth Bale is smart enough to stay until at least end of the season but even if he joined Tottenham, he will definately play EPL next season unless Mattrew Upson who just joined West Ham from 2nd place Birmingham.
