Sociedad keen on Mendieta

Real Sociedad are understood to have contacted Middlesbrough about Gaizka Mendieta's availability.
The Spanish midfielder has fallen out of favour under Gareth Southgate and has been linked with a return to his homeland.
Sociedad coach Miguel Angel Lotina is keen to add Mendieta to his ranks as he looks to keep the club in La Liga this term.
The Basque club hope to take the 32-year-old to the Estadio Anoeta on loan until the end of the season.
However, Boro are looking to offload Mendieta permanently and Sociedad are unable to meet his contract demands.
"There are some problems with Middlesbrough at this moment," Mendieta's agent Alberto Toldra admitted. -
