Chelsea take victory from defeatsLetÂ’s not lose perspective on things right now. While last weekÂ’s results were big, the overall effect is insignificant.
It might be in many people’s interests to call the title race ‘back on’ or ‘a four way race’ but this really isn’t the case. In fact the race was never off, and there’s no way that either Liverpool or Arsenal can overhaul a dozen points. Don’t forget, there are only fourteen games to go this season. Both teams should be bemoaning the slow starts to they had to the league.
Man U and Chelsea have both only lost three games this season; to expect the Red Devils to lose four more is unrealistic. But as I said the race was never over. IÂ’m still backing Chelsea, especially after ArsenalÂ’s last-gasp winner on Sunday. After their abject performance against Liverpool, The Blues must have feared the worst; a nine point deficit. And should Man U have won, then I might have changed my tune. HenryÂ’s header will have deflated FergieÂ’s team and boosted MourinhoÂ’s men immeasurably.
My inkling is that Liverpool will hold off ArsenalÂ’s challenge and retain third spot. They are out of the two domestic cups and they are second favourites against Barca in the Champions League. This means they should remain focussed, and well rested for the important run-in.
