FRANK ARNESEN has defended his work at Chelsea after Jose Mourinho questioned the club’s youth policy. The Blues’ chief scout and director of youth development is under pressure to deliver after boss Mourinho complained about the lack of young talent coming through.Chelsea forked out £8million in compensation after poaching Arnesen from Spurs two years ago to bring the world’s best kids to Stamford Bridge. But Mourinho last week moaned: “Normally at a club you have players in the reserves who are ready to come into the first-team. “But I don’t have the same control over young players as Arsene Wenger has at Arsenal.
“As first-team manager I am still waiting for the final product of the work they do in the youth department.” But Dane Arnesen insisted: “We have 60 talent hunters working in London alone.
“Those who don’t make it to our first-team go back to smaller clubs and therefore everyone benefits because a smaller club wouldn’t have been able to train the player as well as we can.”
It is MourinhoÂ’s unhappiness with ArnesenÂ’s influence at the club which is behind his fall-out with owner Roman Abramovich.
