Manchester United chief executive David Gill has played down talk club debt will hinder his team's spending power this summer.
It had been thought The Red Devils will not be in a position to compete with some of Europe's finest when the game's best players go on sale this summer.
However, Gill has stated the club will still be able to bring out the cheque book, despite incurring massive debts following Malcolm Glazer's controversial takeover.
United have just announced a new multi-million pound sponsorship deal with Spanish commercial giants Grupo 2002 and he believes such deals will enable the club to remain big players in the transfer market.
United signed the likes of Michael Carrick and Tomasz Kuszczak last time out, with Bayern Munich's Owen Hargreaves believed to be top of their shopping list this summer.
"We will be pitching for players," stated Gill.
"In order to do these (sponsorship) deals we fully understand the need for us to have good teams playing attractive and winning football the Manchester United way. That has always been the case.
"We bought Michael Carrick and Tomasz Kuszczak last summer and we will continue to invest in the team as necessary. The funds are there."
