Milan captain Paolo Maldini does not require surgery on his troublesome knee.
Maldini suffered a recurrence of a knee problem in last weekend's derby defeat to Internazionale.
It was initially feared the veteran defender would require an operation, but after a visit with professor Marc Martens, he received good news.
Maldini will continue physiotherapy with a view to being fit for the Rossoneri's UEFA Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
Milan face the German outfit in early April, but also have key games coming up in Serie A as well.
"I will continue with physiotherapy," Maldini confirmed.
"I would like to be fit soon to help my team-mates in this decisive phase of the season."
with this kind of attitude, he can continue playing till his legs run out
