Antoine Sibierski wants three points for Newcastle against his former club on Saturday, but only to help The Magpies get back on track.
The Frenchman left Manchester City for St James' Park in the summer and has become a key member of Glenn Roeder's squad this season.
Sibierski will face his former employers this weekend and Roeder's men could put the pressure on Stuart Pearce again with a win.
The 32-year-old has scored eight goals for Newcastle after falling out of favour at City, but revenge will not be at the forefront of his thoughts on Saturday.
"Stuart Pearce is the same as us, we are under pressure and we have to do the same as him," Sibierski said.
"I want to do well against my old club. The first thing, though, is we need to win for our team and for our fans to be happier.
"Personally, I will be very, very happy to beat them - but Newcastle comes first."
Newcastle have lost their last two outings, to AZ Alkmaar in the Uefa Cup and Charlton in the Premiership, and Sibierski hopes to help turn around the club's form.
"We have to work hard collectively and personally," he added. "It is always hard when you lose as a group, but that is the way it is.
"Even if you do some good things as an individual, you are usually judged as a group."
Sibierski is in line for a new contract at Newcastle after his impressive displays this term.
He is expected to be a part of a strong forward line next season which will include Obafemi Martins and the fit-again Michael Owen and Shola Ameobi.
