Steven Gerrard has fired out a warning to Liverpool's European rivals by insisting he is closing in on peak form.
The midfielder made a slow start to the season, with a hard summer at the World Cup leaving the England international a little jaded.
Gerrard has produced some starring displays for club and country in recent weeks and netted for The Reds in their win over PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.
The victory in Holland moved Liverpool to the brink of a UEFA Champions League semi-final place and Gerrard feels he is peaking at the right time.
"Since Christmas I've been feeling everything coming back," said the 26-year-old.
"I'm training better and hopefully peaking at the right time because there are so many big games around the corner.
"I was really frustrated at the beginning of the season because I was lacking energy in my game and felt lethargic, physically and mentally."
Liverpool lifted the European Cup in 2005 and he says the club are sensing victory again.
He added: "We're all getting those feelings again as we did two years ago when we went all the way to win the trophy in Istanbul, but we're also telling ourselves to slow down.
"There's still a lot of work to do before we can think about Athens and this season's final."
