Newcastle United are not giving Michael Owen a comeback date as he battles his way back from a serious knee injury.
The England international is yet to kick a ball in competitive action this season after damaging knee ligaments in last summer's World Cup.
Owen is now back in training with Glenn Roeder's first team, but the Magpies tactician knows his high-profile star is still a long way from making his comeback.
The former Real Madrid and Liverpool ace will step up his training next week, although Roeder is staying tight-lipped on whether he will feature this season.
"Michael's been training for a week or so with us, but that's a long way away from Premiership football," Roeder told the website.
"We'll step up his training next week. With Michael we're not setting an exact day when he'll play.
"If he doesn't make that day then there's hysteria. It's an injury you can't put a date on, but he's getting closer to playing."
