Essien arrested on drink-driving charge

Chelsea star Michael Essien has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, it was revealed today. The midfielder was released on bail pending further inquiries after he was pulled over by police in south London in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The 24-year-old, who is suspended for tomorrow's Champions League semi-final first leg clash with Liverpool, had been driving his black Range Rover, according to reports.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: 'At approximately 5.10 yesterday morning, officers in Southwark stopped a vehicle driving in the Old Kent Road. 'Officers spoke with the driver and subsequently arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of drink-driving.
"He has been bailed to July pending inquiries.' -
Stupid police. Why give him bail? Let him sit there for a few days mah.

Sit a few days also can lah. He not eligible for the first leg semi against Liverpool.
Anyway, only at the most kenna fine if plead guilty. What is a few thousand pounds for a person earning hundred times more a month. -

Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has expressed his relief after a blood test revealed he was not over the legal drink-drive limit when arrested last week. Essien had been arrested prior to Chelsea's Champions League semi-final first leg game against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
The Ghana international was suspended for the tie but returned for the second leg at Anfield on Tuesday night. Chelsea crashed out of the competition for the second time in three years at the semi-final stage when Liverpool won a dramatic penalty shoot-out 4-1.
But Essien has now been given the all-clear by police following a blood test which revealed he was not in breach of the law. -
