Andrei Shevchenko insists he will play wherever for Chelsea after being deployed in a role behind Didier Drogba against Liverpool.
The Ukrainian striker played in a deeper role as Jose Mourinho's side claimed a 1-0 win in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg.
Shevchenko has endured an up-and-down first season at Stamford Bridge, and the latest incident could have upset the former Milan man.
But Shevchenko is adamant he had no problem with playing in an unfamiliar position as long as the team are winning.
"For Chelsea it was better if I played in that role," he told Italian media. "I'm not accustomed to questioning the coach's tactics.
"This season I have scored important goals and we won against Liverpool and that is what counts.
"I am not selfish, I think about the team before I think about myself."
Meanwhile, Shevchenko has put his backing behind Mourinho, who has seen his future cast in doubt at times this season.
The Portuguese tactician's job with The Blues next season has now been assured, pleasing the £30million signing last summer.
"Mourinho has made history at Chelsea, he has won two league titles and at this point we are on course to win everything," Shevchenko added.
"Is there anything else to add?"
