MILAN, May 6 (Reuters) - Inter Milan midfielder Luis Figo has confirmed he will leave the club after months of speculation about his future.
'I have made a difficult decision and I continue to think the same way. I have decided to leave top-level football,' he was quoted as saying on Inter's official website (www.inter.it) after the champions won 1-0 at Messina on Sunday.
'I have always been happy at Inter, and I would stay if it depended just on my feelings. It's the question of the moment. We will see. The important thing is to do well until the end of the season.'
Reports in January said Figo would join Saudi Arabia's Al Ittihad on an 18-month deal in July but the Portuguese failed to comment on his future destination on Sunday.
Inter have lobbied hard to keep the 34-year-old at the San Siro as he has helped them claim two league titles in two years at the club.
