TOTTENHAM striker Dimitar Berbatov will be offered a new contract to make sure he stays at White Hart Lane. Berbatov has become the hottest property in the Premiership, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United believed to be hugely impressed by his first season at Spurs. The Bulgarian hit-man is on comparatively low money in Premiership terms. The four-year deal he signed when he joined from Bayer Leverkusen for £10.9million last summer is worth £22,000 a week.That has alerted the Premiership's big guns and Spurs are moving quickly to make sure that Berbatov's future does not turn into another transfer saga. The club sold Michael Carrick to Manchester United for £18.6m last summer after losing a battle to keep him and are determined not to let that happen again.
It means Spurs may have to DOUBLE Berbatov's money but the player and his agent Emil Dantchev have indicated to manager Martin Jol and chairman Daniel Levy that he wants to stay. Berbatov has three years left on his contract with an an option for a two-year extension. Spurs captain Ledley King is believed to be the club's top earner after signing a new £60,000-aweek four-year deal last summer while striker Robbie Keane is just behind. Keeper Paul Robinson is on a lucrative long-term deal.
