Steven Gerrard has promised Liverpool will mount a serious challenge for the Premiership title next season.
The Reds have failed to close the gap on the leading duo this time around, finishing 21 points adrift of champions Manchester United.
However, Gerrard feels with investment in the squad this summer, Rafa Benitez will have a squad capable of going all the way in the league next season.
Although Gerrard is thrilled to have reached the final of this season's UEFA Champions League he knows it is time for them to start performing consistently in the league.
"The league is always your bread and butter as a Liverpool player - and we're not far away," he is quoted in The Sun.
"With investment in the summer, and the squad already staying together, we can promise to push Chelsea and United all the way next year.
"You ask the manager or any of the players and they would say exactly the same thing - we had bigger ambitions for this season than just the Champions League.
"We always had one eye on Europe but we also wanted the league flag flying back at Anfield."
hope we will put on a good fight next year
this is same old story about liverpool pushing for the title, in the end, what happen, haiz
i hope this is real, this time round
i heard tis for a few seasons...if liverpool really dun get better..tottenham newcastle might be chasing the last CL spots =)
the same old thing every year
let's face it, RB seems better at the Cups than the title.
btw, Pool fans, title or cup more important??
given how I started a thread for MUFC about winning the title or cup and whether SAF is successful in his times, do you pool fans think what RB did is a success? Given one European Cup, and one finals in so few years..
And btw, do you know how much he spent already? cause I was under false impression, that it is quite alot too.
Just a question, no offense.
