Jewell: Hutchings is right man
Paul Jewell has backed his former assistant Chris Hutchings to thrive in his new role at Wigan, after being appointed as the club's new manager.
There were more than a few eyebrows raised when Wigan chairman Dave Whelan promoted Hutchings at The JJB, but Jewell is confident his old right-hand man is ready to make a name for himself in his own right.
Hutchings lasted just 137 days when he took over at Bradford in similar circumstances back in 2000 but Jewell feels the circumstances are different at Wigan than those at Valley Parade.
Of the opinion that Bradford acted in haste in dispensing with Hutchings' services, Jewell believes Wigan will demonstrate greater patience.
He told Sky Sports News: "A lot of people are talking about big names - but Chris knows the game and club inside out, he's good and honest, he's got good knowledge, he's a good coach.
"He was probably sacked too early at Bradford - but when I got the job at Bradford a lot of people were moaning about me.
"He's good enough and I hope he goes on from strength to strength."
ya, we heard this line many time already
all deja vu.......bradford once again....
