David Beckham has admitted he still dreams of striding out at Wembley for England.
The midfielder has not played for England under Steve McClaren after relinquishing the captaincy at the end of the World Cup.
But he has always vowed to regain his spot and, after casting his gaze over the new Wembley Stadium, insists he is more determined than ever to play for his country again.
"This is an unbelievable place and you know it is worth the wait when you see it. Our country deserves a national stadium," he told The Times.
"Sitting here now, seeing what's been produced, it makes you proud to be English.
"Who wouldn't want to be a part of this history?
"If you can cope with the expectations, playing for your country is the biggest honour there is.
"I still want to play for my country and I still believe I can do it."
Beckham will join Los Angles Galaxy at the end of the season after four years at Real Madrid, and he believes it will be more challenging than many people expect.
"I will be training as hard as I ever have done. I am not getting any younger so I have to work harder than ever," he said.
"There have been high expectations of me throughout my career.
"There will be some frustrating times. There are a couple of artificial pitches. I haven't played on those for many years, if ever.
"I have to be patient because maybe the results won't be seen for a while, but this is a long-term plan.
"It is about working with kids, taking my experience and passing it on to them."
There has been speculation that the popularity of football in America will rocket when Beckham arrives in Los Angles, but he believes that idea is ridiculous.
He explained: "Some people are thinking it is going to change just like that with soccer in America.
"It is not going to happen. It is going to take a lot of hard work, a lot of time not just to build the Galaxy but the whole MLS."

Forget it, he's going to move to US soon and will be a forgotten man altogether.
Of course, there's a high chance Beckham will invite journalists and reporters to trail him in US so he can continue to keep himself in the limelight in Europe.
