Jermaine Pennant has revealed his disappointment after being overlooked for England once again.
The Liverpool wide-man was one of a few Reds players to come out of their UEFA Champions Legaue final defeat with some credit after he put in a stirring displays in Athens against Milan.
Many predicted that Pennant would be rewarded for his form with a call-up to Steve McClaren's squad for the forthcoming matches with Brazil and Estonia.
However, Pennant was denied a call-up with former captain David Beckham receiving a recall instead.
"I'd have hoped I was knocking on the England door because if you are not knocking on the door after playing in a Champions League final for Liverpool then there must be something wrong," Pennant told the People.
"The Champions League has been good for me as a player and I wasn't at all fazed to have played in the final.
"It would have been a great pick up to be selected by England so I'm desperately disappointed.
"After a few problems, the last season was a real turnaround and to have played in the Champions League final and finish third in the Premiership I couldn't have expected anymore.
"Being picked for the England games would have been a good way to end the season."

although he had some good dribbles in the final...his final ball were still not as good as beckham can put them.. think even bendley oso better than pennant..

i think he deserves a call up and could possibly fight places with lennon, swp and bentley when beckham retires
allentyb
he deserve an england call up

Pennant is good, but he is not good enough to replace Becks and even Bentley is better than Pennant this season.

a few good performances and he expects to be called up?
he's lucky liverpool doesn't have any more right wingers to compete with him for his place.
1 more season of consitency and he deserves it.

i think pennant is still far from it...there still many right wing down the line..

inconsistent. i prefer james milner over him.

Bentley didn't even get his chance despite playing regularly for Rovers and Milner is still being pushed back to the Under-21. What makes Pennant think that he deserves a call-up?
Cheers. CK

agreed...rome is not made in one day. just becos he put in a better performance does not mean automatic call-up. you need consistency, prove it in the league week in week out and you deserve a call-up.
david beckham has of late, carried / inspired real madrid to their pole position. what has pennant done? has he inspired liverpool to UCL cup? has he inspired Liverpool to Premier League title ? none. enough said, he shld check his performance for the season, which i say at most is patchy.
