Everton are looking to complete a deal with Sheffield United for their highly-rated defender Phil Jagielka. The 24-year-old is believed to have a £4million release clause in his contract and is keen on a move to Goodison Park. Jagielka was released by Everton as a youngster but is reportedly ready to move back to the club, while spurning the attentions of Newcastle and Aston Villa.
With the Blades' unable to hold on to Premiership survival, Jagielka is keen to stay in the top flight and recently impressed on his international bow for England B against Albania.
But chairman Terry Robinson downplayed any potential transfer, telling BBC Radio Sheffield: 'There's interest from many clubs but at this stage there's no movement with any of them.
'I'm not in a position to reveal who's interested but I've not seen anyone's money yet.
'Up to now we haven't received any acceptable offers. We're in a tricky situation, because we may have to sell a player that we don't want to sell, so I'm not going to reveal what we regard as an acceptable offer.'
