Giggs set to quit internationals
Ryan Giggs is expected to announce his retirement from international football today in an effort to prolong his Manchester United career. The Wales captain is due to win his 64th cap against the Czech Republic on Saturday but from next season he will concentrate on winning a 10th league title with United as well as a second Champions League winners' medal.
The announcement comes at a crucial time for Wales, who need to win the game in Cardiff to have any realistic chance of reaching the Euro 2008 finals. Giggs' decision means he will never play at a major finals but he has seen how well his United team-mate Paul Scholes has played after quitting international football and wants to secure a new contract at Old Trafford. His current deal has one year left to run.
