Chelsea reportedly snap up Pizarro

Bayern Munich striker Claudio Pizarro has reportedly joined Chelsea on a free transfer, according to Friday's press.The Peruvian striker is out-of-contract and is seeking a move away from the deposed Bundesliga champions after they failed to qualify for next season's Champions League.
Pizarro had been heavily linked with a move to Juventus after snubbing an ambitious offer from Rangers, but it appears the departure of Didier Deschamps from the Turin giants put an end to their interest.
Pizarro has scored 97 goals in 229 games for the German giants.

Premiership - Chelsea are on the verge of signing striker Claudio Pizarro from Bayern Munich on a free transfer, according to English press reports.
The 28-year-old Peru international, nicknamed "the Bomber from the Andes", has endured a turbulent season in the Bundesliga, and incurred the wrath of the club's supporters after stealing the ball from Roy Makaay after the team had been awarded a penalty against Frankfurt, and promptly missing the spot-kick. He retained his place in the team though, keeping German international Lukas Podolski on the bench.
Pizarro was offered a new contract by the club in Spring, though angered club bosses by rejecting it and demanding more money, prompting chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to remark: "Anyone wishing to earn like Shevchenko must first play like Shevchenko."
Pizarro, who has scored 97 goals in 229 for Bayern since joining from Werder Bremen in 2001, would bolster the Blues front line, which looked increasingly depleted toward the end of last season due to Andriy Shevchenko's poor form, and which will be left two men short when Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba head to the African Nations Cup in January. -

Blues seal Pizarro deal
Chelsea have made another foray into the transfer market by swooping to sign Claudio Pizarro from Bayern Munich.
The Peruvian international has moved to Stamford Bridge on a free transfer, after his contract at the Allianz Arena wound down, and follows Steve Sidwell and Oldham starlet Danny Philliskirk to the club.
Pizarro had been linked with a move to Juventus, but Chelsea stepped in to trump the Old Lady.
The striker wrapped up the formalities of his move on Friday and expressed delight at securing a transfer to Stamford Bridge.
"I think it's very important for me to win some titles and I have the chance here to win them," Pizarro told Chelsea TV. "The most important thing is the Champions League which I was looking to win with Bayern, but we didn't have the chance.
"I think now we have a good team, a good trainer and the chance to win it.
"I had some interesting offers, but the most important thing was that I talked to the coach, I talked to the people here, and they were very interested. We have many chances to win titles here and that's what I want."
Blues chief Jose Mourinho had been keen to boost his striking options, as he will lose the services of Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou during next term due to African Cup of Nations commitments. -
