Chelsea snatch Blades ace

  Sheffield United academy prospect Jacob Mellis has agreed a contract with Chelsea.
  
  The 16-year-old midfielder has been lured to Stamford Bridge after four years developing his game with The Blades.
  
  United could earn up to £1.3million for the loss of Mellis, who was a regular for the club's reserve team last season.
  
  The England youth international joins Oldham Athletic starlet Danny Philliskirk in linking up with The Blues this summer.
  
  "It is disappointing to lose such a talent," United chairman Terry Robinson told the club's official website.
  
  "We made a great effort to keep hold of Jacob but he made it clear that he wanted to leave."

  A big mistake. The Chelsea now will never play Youth prospects.

  Youths are for nurturing, not for playing. Playing is for a few years later.

  now buy then 2-3 years later loan out. only to find out he's not good enough then sell to the lower end clubs

  If he lives up to the initial expectations and turns out to be a great player, then he will get to play in first team. :p
  
  If he doesn't want to play for Chelsea, he wouldn't sign for the club. At least this is the case for now.

  Are SWP, Wayne Bridge and Scott Parker good enough for England? Sure they are.
  
  Are they playing (or have they played) regularly for Chelsea? Ans is no.
  
  Only Terry and Ashley Cole were deemed "great" enough. Joe Cole....regular place only once in a while.
  
  Hope these young players are "great" enough. If not, they will end up like the aforesaid three.
