Claudio Ranieri is reported to have told Frank Lampard that he wants him to join him at Juventus.
The Italian tactician was confirmed as the new Juve coach earlier this week, but it seems he was already laying the foundations as it is claimed he approached Lampard last week.
Ranieri was present at England's friendly with Brazil and Italian sources claim a brief approach was made.
"I want you with me," Ranieri is quoted as telling Lampard in the Corriere dello Sport.
The news is sure to increase further pressure on Chelsea to finalise Lampard's future.
They have been locked in talks with the England midfielder for a number of months over a new contract - but are yet to agree terms.
Barcelona are known to be huge admirers of Lampard, but have admitted they have plenty of options in midfield.
Barca's hesitation could very well allow Juventus to make a move for Lampard - who has always stated his love for Chelsea, but has admitted his frustration at the lack of progress over his new deal.
Meanwhile, reports in Brazil are linking Chelsea with a move for Alexandre Pato.
The 17-year-old, known as 'The Duck', is one of the most sought after players in South America and has already been linked with a host of top European clubs.
It is claimed that the Blues are looking to beat the likes of Milan, Juventus, Internazionale and Benfica to his signature and head of youth recruitment Frank Arnesen is reported to have held talks with the youngster's representatives.
