Reina extends Liverpool deal until 2012
Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina has penned a new deal with Champions League finalists Liverpool, the club said Thursday.
The new deal ties the 25-year-old down until 2012 and follows quickly on from the new contracts signed by Reds stallwarts Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.
Reina, who has won the FA Cup and reached a Champions League final in his two years at Anfield, set his sights on better things in the future.
"Our supporters deserve to win the championship and that's what we're going to try to do," he said.
Manager Rafael Benitez is also reportedly closing in on Lyon's France winger Florent Malouda and allegedly also Barcelona's Cameroon forward Samuel Eto'o.
