West Bromwich Albion have turned down Birmingham City's bid for Diomansy Kamara.
1 of the website reported on Monday morning that the newly-promoted Blues had offered £3.5million for the striker.
But it appears Birmingham's opening gambit for the Senegal international has been knocked back by their local rivals.
Blues boss Steve Bruce appears keen to increase his attacking options and must now decide whether to up his original offer for Kamara.
Bruce is also chasing Turkey international Tuncay Sanli and could have additional transfer funds if interest in a takeover from the Far East firms up.
Kamara cost West Brom £1.5million from Modena two years ago and there are signs the player could be allowed to leave The Hawthorns for the right price following comments by his agent.
