Spurs launch late bid to bag BentTottenham have reportedly made a last-gasp bid to snatch Darren Bent after West Ham saw a £17m offer accepted by Charlton on Wednesday.
Tha Hammers offered £16million plus midfielder Hayden Mullins for the England striker but Bent is yet to discuss terms on a move across London.
The 23-year-old is currently on holiday but it is thought he will fly home to sign a five-year deal worth £75,000 a week.
However, Spurs' late bid may scupper West Ham's plans, given they can offer European football.
Martin Jol has been a keen admirer of Bent for some time but was thought to be unwilling to pay such a price.
But he appears to have had a change of heart with Sky Sports News reporting Spurs have now made an undisclosed bid.
If Bent opts for White Hart Lane, it could open the door for Jermain Defoe to leave the club following reports he has been offered a 'take it or leave it' new three-year deal.
Some late drama, but i think it's a done deal with WH already.
