Coventry claim they are closing in on a mystery signing from the Premiership.
The Sky Blues are refusing to reveal the identity of their transfer target, but reports suggest Blackburn defender Andy Todd is the player in question.
Blackburn are willing to let Todd leave Ewood Park for the right price as he is well down the pecking order in Mark Hughes' plans.
Coventry assistant manager Tim Flowers is not giving away who the club are chasing, but he is hopeful a deal can be done for the player.
"We have got a No.1 target and we have met with his agent and it all sounded positive," Flowers told the Coventry Telegraph.
"He is a player of great calibre and has got one or two Premier League clubs looking at him but I have spoken to him myself and he is a good honest lad and says he will ring me as soon as he knows what's happening.
"I can't say too much at this stage but from the first day I came through the door at Coventry I threw his name into the equation because he is a very, very good player.
"If he comes, and it is a big 'if', he will bring leadership, organisation and a rugged manliness, and I believe he would be a major coup and signal of our intent."
