Aston Villa have reportedly been keeping a close eye on Holland's Royston Drenthe during the European Under 21 Championship.
The Feyenoord wide-man has caught the eye in the tournament being played in his home country, and it is believed his performances have been met with approval by Martin O'Neill.
The Villa boss has dispatched his chief scout Ian Storey-Moore to monitor the 20-year-old defender as Holland aim to claim the Under 21 crown.
Villa are currently short in the full-back department after Jlloyd Samuel's decision to join Bolton on a free transfer.
If the Midlands club opt to move for Drenthe, then he could well battle compatriot Wilfred Bouma for the left-back spot at Villa Park.
