Milan confident of re-signing Sheva

AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi claims there is an 80 per cent chance of Chelsea misfit Andriy Shevchenko rejoining the Rossoneri this summer.
The Ukraine forward has been repeatedly linked with a return to Milan over the last six months following a difficult season at Stamford Bridge.
Milan are keen to sign a striker with Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o and Arsenal's Thierry Henry rumoured targets for the European champions.
However, Berlusconi has his heart set on Shevchenko.
"I like Eto'o, he is young, but I am a romantic and I prefer Shevchenko," said Berlusconi in Gazzetta dello Sport.
Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani admitted earlier this month that Shevchenko's return would only happen if Chelsea gave the all-clear to sell the player.
The Blues paid £30million to Milan last summer for the 30-year-old, but Berlusconi believes the deal is still possible.
"The last time I spoke to Galliani, which was a couple of days ago, the probability of Shevchenko returning to Milan was 80%," he said.
"Had that percentage gone down, I'm sure Galliani would have told me."
Despite winning the Champions League trophy last month, the Rossoneri have struggled without the Ukrainian.
Shevchenko broke the hearts of many Rossoneri fans a year ago when he announced his intention to join Chelsea after seven successful years at Milan.
Although Milan went on to win the Champions League title last season, Carlo Ancelotti's outfit struggled in the domestic competition without the club's second all-time goalscorer.
"Sheva has a great desire to return," admitted Berlusconi.
"There are no obstacles linked to his salary because he would be winning a similar fee as that of our top players.
"We will have to negotiate his transfer with Chelsea, each club looks at their own interests.
"I really believe Shevchenko would be an ideal player to complete our attacking line.
"I consider Sheva as my son. I have experienced important moments with his family, such as his father's heart operation and the birth of his son, who I'm a godfather to.
"Andriy is still young, he's got so many years of his career ahead of him." -

Chelsea's misfiring striker Andriy Shevchenko could soon be on his way back to AC Milan after just one season in the English Premiership.
The 30-year-old Ukraine international has failed to live up to his illustrious reputation since his 30 million pounds transfer from the Serie A giants last year, scoring just four league goals for the Blues.
AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi confirmed that his club are trying to bring Shevchenko back to the San Siro.
"The other day when I spoke to (AC Milan vice-president) Galliani, the deal seemed 80 percent done," Berlusconi was quoted as saying in Friday's Gazzetta dello Sport.
"If the situation has changed since then Galliani would have definitely told me.
"Sheva has a great desire to return and there would be no problems in terms of his salary. He would be paid the same as our best players.
"Then we need to reach an agreement with Chelsea over the transfer fee. I believe Sheva would be ideal to complete our attack."
Milan, who won the Champions League last month after beating Liverpool 2-1 in the Athens final, have been linked with a move for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o.
However, Berlusconi said he would prefer to get his hands on Shevchenko rather than the 26-year-old Cameroon international.
"I like Eto'o, he's young, but I prefer Sheva." said the former Italian prime minister.
"I am a romantic. Sheva is like a son to me and we have been through a lot together."
Shevchenko joined AC Milan from Dynamo Kiev in 1999 and helped them win the 2002-2003 Champions League and the 2003-2004 Serie A title. -
Milan Players Don’t Want Sheva Back – Report
According to a report in Italian newspaper ‘Il Giornale’, there is a group of Milan players who do not want Andriy Shevchenko to return to the club.
President Silvio Berlusconi is very keen to bring the Ukrainian back from Chelsea, and vice-president Adriano Galliani has reportedly told him that the likelihood of such a move was "at 80 per cent."
However, the likes of Paolo Maldini, Gennaro Gattuso and Clarence Seedorf do not believe
Shevchenko should be able to walk back into the San Siro quite so easily after making clear his desperation to join Chelsea last summer.
The Blues paid £30 million for Shevchenko and are unlikely to let him return for anything less than £20 million.
Milan are apparently willing to pay just £6.7 million for a one or two-year loan deal.
All this means that the Rossoneri may now step up their efforts to sign Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.
Meanwhile, the paper also claims that Milan have pulled out of a move for Edmilson because they do not want to limit Yoann GourcuffÂ’s first-team chances next season.
