Contract talks between Chelsea and Arjen Robben have collapsed. Robben’s representatives, his father Hans and agent Ton Smits, met Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon in London last week but could not agree a new five-year deal. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are keen to sign the Holland winger, who moved from PSV Eindhoven to Chelsea for £12 million in 2004 and still has two years left on his current contract.
Robben joins John Terry and Frank Lampard in failing to agree new deals as owner Roman Abramovich activates a Stamford Bridge austerity drive.
