Get him, liverpool..Originally posted by anhydrouscoppersulphate:Reds face Torres battle
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo is understood to have told potential suitors they will have to pay the £27million release clause in his contract to land him.
There are suggestions a delegation from Liverpool has been in the Spanish capital looking to tie up a deal before other clubs can muscle in but the two parties are not thought to be close to an agreement.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also believed to be monitoring movements, according to press reports.
Uncertainty over the transfer funds available to Rafael Benitez may force the Reds boss to look at a player-plus-cash deal in order to land the world-class striker he covets.
After failing to qualify for the Uefa Cup next season, Atletico may be prepared to cash in on Torres in spite of their efforts over the last couple of years to hang on to their prized asset.
look, we are talking about millions and millions of pounds. The funds that are being promised have to be spent wisely, and not for the sake of spending. Identifying the target is one thing, whether the respective clubs are willing to let them go is another. Look at Darren Bent, how the hell did he get the 17m pounds pricetag slapped on his head? Simply because of the reluctance of all the clubs to let go of their best player. I hope you get this drilled into your pea-sized brain.Originally posted by charleslee:well wat can we conclude here? the americans r just taking LFC as their plaything, n all the nonsense abt giving us a larger budget... i'm so disillisioned abt the yankees... when they said abt phase 2, i didn't really believe it already..
for goodness sake.. i read reports that say that the owners just couldn't decide on the amt to give to RB.. if they couldn't decide now, then wat is the point of identifying them? rmb boy, in this world, money and speed is more impt, rather like the owners trying to make this transfer season as if they're launching a Condo project.. heard of NMNT?Originally posted by Takumi2eLimit:look, we are talking about millions and millions of pounds. Reports? Where are these reports being emanated from? How reliable are the sources? Did the owners, themselves leak it out to someone from the local tabloids that they are unsure of the amount of funds they are going to provide? Kid, back it up with credible sources rather than blabbering about ' you read reports' . Look, everyday someone is going to come in and say the same thing, and the media generally wank over it. It's a proven fact. How easy is it for you to say that speed and money is important. But put yourself in their shoes and you'd realise every pound you spent must be carely calculated because you have pumped in so much money in the club. Leeds United have proved that. Tell me more about the redundancy of a condo project?Originally posted by charleslee:for goodness sake.. i read reports that say that the owners just couldn't decide on the amt to give to RB.. if they couldn't decide now, then wat is the point of identifying them? rmb boy, in this world, money and speed is more impt, rather like the owners trying to make this transfer season as if they're launching a Condo project.. heard of NMNT?
c'mon... it has been all over the place even in the straits times that RB is not very happy with at which how LFC is working... r u suspecting that our straits times is not reliable? and one more example.. RB's post-CL outburst.. i f he was happy with wat he saw, will he have said tt? and this from the liverpool echo 'Although heÂ’s received assurances from the new owners he will be supported, heÂ’s still not been told exactly how much he can spend.'Originally posted by Takumi2eLimit:Reports? If you do read up on the net more often, you'd realise the words are more or less from the Straits Times, that's perhaps how they derive from it. What they provide may not be proven right all the time, so why would i not doubt them?Originally posted by charleslee:c'mon... it has been all over the place even in the straits times that RB is not very happy with at which how LFC is working... r u suspecting that our straits times is not reliable? and one more example.. and the americans said that they aren't gonna ' spend like drunken sailors' .. c'mon since they have the cash to make their NHL team to be a gd team, y can't they do it to the same to LFC, instead of hemming and hawing..
want another example? look at the devils.. Sir alex wanted Hargreaves for nearly a yr , he got his man. did the glazers hesitated? nope, they didn't at all. so y are the LFC's owners hesitating?
and for the condo thingy, i jus wanna say that there's no such thing like phases in transfer market.. if they tink tt the transfer mkt is like rolling out a Condo by selling them in phases, then gd luck to them on getting players of a high calibre
clever observation.Originally posted by club18:u seem to have a very poor opinion of the owners..
there are a few things to take into consideration b4 saying things like the owner not spending or wat..
benitez was given a rather large budget though still veri much smaller than man u.
he has to use it wisely and buy several players..
if he were to spend so much on 1 player, there would be very little left for other players like benayoun.
we have to see if the player is really worth the price.
look at darren bent. do u seriously think he's worth 19m.
we cannot just push the blame to the owners just becos they refuse to spend on a not so good player.
cannot like chelsea 1st season under roman anyhow spend.
even lousy players also buy for much $$.
