benitez was given a rather large budget though still veri much smaller than man u.
he has to use it wisely and buy several players..
if he were to spend so much on 1 player, there would be very little left for other players like benayoun.
we have to see if the player is really worth the price.
look at darren bent. do u seriously think he's worth 19m.

Swap deal lined up for £25m target
Liverpool are reportedly ready to offer striker Djibril Cisse as part of their £25m bid to sign Atletico Madrid's Fernando Torres.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez is anxious to bring Torres to Anfield as part of his new-look squad next season but Liverpool are understood to be reluctant to match Atletico's £25m valuation for the Spanish international.
Wingler Luis Garcia has been linked as part of a possible swap deal for Torres but it now appears that Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry is trying to negotiate a deal that will see £6 million-rated Cisse move to Spain.
The French international spent last season on loan at Marseille and he and his advisers are said to have been told on Friday that he can start negotiating his move to Spain.
Atletico fancy Cisse after missing out on Torres's ideal replacement Vincenzo Iaquinta, who chose to join Juventus from Udinese last week, but complications could arise with Bolton boss Sammy Lee also keen to sign the Frenchman, who still has a home in the north west. -

Henry Complicates Torres' Liverpool Move
Liverpool and Atletico Madrid continue to differ in their valuation of Fernando Torres, but an agreement is still expected early next week. Unless, Arsenal move in, having already spoken with Atleti about Reyes!
The talks between Liverpool and Atletico Madrid continue as both sides look to strike deals favourable for themselves.
Reports in Spain suggest Atletico Madrid have been demanding 36 million euros (£24million), while Liverpool, who started with a 25 million euro offer, are at the moment only willing to offer 30.
Neither club seem to be willing to budge as of now, so the weekend has come at a good time, allowing both to reconsider their positions.
There is talk of Rafa Benitez including one player in the deal, along with around 25-30million, but Atletico Madrid are not interested in Luis Garcia, or others Liverpool are willing to offer.
It is believed that if a player cannot be added to the deal, Liverpool will table a 32m 'take it or leave it' offer next week. Ateltico Madrid might just go for it, given that Torres' buy-out clause is anyway set at 40m.
However, Los Colchoneros are hoping that the sale of Thierry Henry to Barcelona will bring Arsenal into the picture, and help drive up the price. Jose Antonio Reyes is a player Atleti have discussed with Wenger, and that could also tilt the balance in Arsenal's favour.
Atleti are, however, still keen on Liverpool largely because they want a straight cash deal, and simply want to use Arsenal's interest. The Reds, meanwhile, are keen to seal the deal on Monday itself, to avoid being held at ransom.

United's move to land £10millionrated Italian international Fabio Quagliarella looks doomed after Udinese outbid Sampdoria in a tender to secure the striker's services next season.
So Sir Alex Ferguson has turned his attentions back to long-term target Torres, who now looks likely to leave the club he has supported all his life after Atletico failed to qualify for Europe.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez's failed attempt to secure Torres with a bid which included Luis Garcia as a makeweight has alerted United to Atletico's willingness to do business.
But the Spanish club are looking to bank the £27m they inserted as a get-out clause when Torres signed a new contract last summer.

Reds set for record Torres deal
Liverpool are set to see off interest from Manchester United to seal the signing of Fernando Torres for a club-record £25m this week.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez has made the Atletico Madrid striker his number one transfer target this summer and looks set to get his man despite late interest in the 23-year-old from United.
It is thought the Spanish international would prefer a move to Anfield, where he would team up with fellow countrymen Benitez, Xabi Alonso and Pepe Reina, to spearhead the Reds' strike force next season.
There are reports Benitez will offer Atletico Luis Garcia or Djibril Cisse as part of the deal in order to reduce the amount Liverpool will have to fork out, although it is thought the Reds are willing to pay as much as £25m on Torres - a figure that easily eclipses the £14m spent on Cisse in the summer of 2004.

United To Bid For Torres, Accept Boro's £6M Smith Bid
According to reports out of England, it is Middlesbrough, not Newcastle, who are set to land Manchester United striker Alan Smith. The money will be used to help land either Dimitar Berbatov or Fernando Torres.
Sam Allardyce was linked with a move for him, and Roy Keane and Harry Redknapp had both expressed interest.
However, today's report suggests that neither the Toons, nor Pompey or the Black Cats, submitted a concrete bid.
This put Boro - who are hunting for a replacement for Mark Viduka - in pole position. However, Southgate must now sell the plan to Smith, who is currently on vacation in Florida.
The Boro manager is expected to fly to the States to speak to the former Leeds man, in order to convince him to move to the Riverside.
Sir Alex Ferguson is hunting for a number 9 who can play in front of Rooney, and Smith does not fit the bill. Under the circumstances, he is happy to open the door in return for a sum that will boost his transfer kitty.
Dimitar Berbatov and Fernando Torres are both still on Fergie's radar! The former could be sold if Spurs land Darren Bent, while the latter has already been put on the market with a 36 million euro (£24 million) price tag.
A separate report in the Mirror suggests that Giuseppe Rossi could also be sold if someone is willing to offer around £8-10m, in order to put together enough money for a bid for Torres, who is close to a move to Liverpool at the moment.

Atletico deny Torres rumours
Atletico Madrid have denied reports that they have received an offer from Liverpool for Fernando Torres.
Reports over the last few days have suggested Liverpool were planning a move for the Spanish international.
It had been claimed Liverpool were ready to break their transfer record to sign Torres in a £25million deal.
Torres' future at Atletico is up in the air after another disappointing campaign at the Vicente Calderon last season.
The 23-year-old is believed to be considering moving on for a new challenge, but Atletico president Enrique Cerezo says they have received no offers for the talented forward.
"We've received no offer from Liverpool or any other club or player," said Cerezo.
"There is nothing linking Torres with any team. He's on holidays, he's resting and he'll return to work on July 9." -

Fernando Torres is ready to confront his Atletico Madrid bosses in an effort to break the deadlock over his proposed move to Liverpool.
The Spain striker fears he is being priced out of a place in Rafa Benitez's plans, after being made aware of the Liverpool manager's interest, and intends outlining his misgivings to president Enrique Cerezo.
Atletico's £27million asking price is proving a stumbling block, though Liverpool could find a way round it by including Djibril Cisse and Luis Garcia in part exchange.
Cisse's £8m valuation would significantly reduce Liverpool's financial outlay, while moving to La Liga may well appeal to the Anfield misfit after he recently bought a Spanish holiday home in Sitges.
Cerezo confirmed Liverpool were stalling over the price tag on Torres, saying: "We have not had any offers from them for the player." -

Liverpool are reportedly closing in on record deal for long-term target Fernando Torres, but could be held up by a pay-off clause.
According to The Sun, Reds manager Rafael Benitez has agreed to pay £25million for the 23-year-old Spain international.
However the deal could be held up because Torres is entitled to 10 per cent of any fee and Atletico Madrid insist Liverpool should pay it.
The Premier League side are adamant this cash, all £2.5million of it, should come out of the overall transfer pot.
Atletico president Enrique Cerezo said: "Every player has a price and if they pay the transfer clause there is nothing we can do to stop Torres leaving.
"But at the moment what is certain is that there is nothing going on with Torres and any other club."
Benitez's own agent Garcia Quilon is trying to broker a deal and Liverpool are confident they will get their man.
Torres has long been linked with a move to England with his impressive 82 goals in 212 games for Atletico really raising awareness of his raw talents.
Meanwhile Liverpool have been expected to throw Djibril Cisse into the deal as part of a player-plus-cash arrangement while Luis Garcia could also be included. -
Torres Not Essential Claim Atlético
Atlético de Madrid have given their clearest indication that Fernando Torres could leave the club and that Diego Forlán could be his replacement.
With Liverpool said to have made their interest in the highly-rated striker known the Spanish club is now playing a waiting game.
Miguel Angel Gil MarÃn admitted he was aware of the Reds desire to sign Torres and said that one of his jobs this summer could be to look for a replacement.
"Nobody is essential," Gil MarÃn stated.
"We are trying to build a team to compete and it is not about any one player and, good though he is, we want a squad that achieves its' ambitions.
"Atlético is creating a side that is not all about Torres, but about the team itself.
"I would love Fernando to stay, but it is Fernando himself who will decide his future.
"We have talked to him and told him that he is in our plans. It is normal that he has doubts.
"It is also normal that their are offers and has caused him to stop and think.
"Things in football can change at any time and, although I do not see anything happening yet, I have to continue to work on looking for alternatives in case all this talk becomes a reality."
Despite all the rumours, Gil MarÃn holds out hope that Torres will reject Liverpool's overtures and commit himself to the club where he came through the youth ranks.
The approach to sign Forlán from Villarreal will continue even if Torres stays, but could also be vital if he does opt to move to the Premiership.
"The deal that we are trying to do for Forlán is to give Fernando a partner in attack, but it may also be to use him as his replacement," Gil MarÃn said.
"Torres knows that he is wanted at Atlético and, as far as I know, he wants to stay."
