Barcelona have informed Ludovic Giuly that they no longer need him.
The Frenchman's representatives met Barcelona technical head Txiki Begiristain in order to resolve the player's future, and were informed that Giuly was no longer a part of the club's plans for the future.
The meeting is said to have been a calm one, as the winger has accepted that his Barcelona career is at an end.
He has been relegated to the bench by the explosive Lionel Messi, and if there is one player who will certainly stay at the club, it is the Argentine youngster.
With Bojan Krkic and Giovani dos Santos set to join the first team next season, and Thierry Henry also on the way, there will anyway be little for him to do if he stays on.
A couple of offers, one of them from Marseille, were discussed, and Barcelona clarified that they will not make it hard for prospective clubs. An offer in the region of 5-6 million euros will do for the 31-year-old.
Marseille are said to have offered the player a 3-year contract, and Giuly himself admitted that he was keen on a return to France.
"I wish to return to France, but it depends on the Barcelona directors and what price they set," he said. "But I am hopeful of a satisfactory solution."
