ENGLAND under-21s hero Leroy Lita is a £5million target for Sunderland boss Roy Keane.
Reports suggest the former Manchester United legend has been so impressed with Lita's recent performances in the European u21s Championships that a multi-million pound bid is imminent.
Keane, who signed Greg Halford from Reading a fortnight ago, has earmarked a striker as his number one priority during the summer.
Preston's David Nugent has also been heavily linked with a move to the Stadium of Light but Lita, who netted 14 goals in all competitions last season, now appears to be the Sunderland boss's top choice.
But Reading are looking to fend off Keane's interest with an offer of a new four-year deal.
Royals director of football Nick Hammnd said: "We have had conversations with him (Leroy) and hope to move forward very soon."
