Messina goalkeeper Nicholas Caglioni has been banned from football for two years after testing positive for cocaine.
The Italian soccer federation made the ruling on Tuesday and Caglioni now faces a prolonged spell in the football wilderness.
Traces of the drug were found in a test made after Messina's draw with Catania back in February.
Caglioni, 24-years-old, will be permitted to return to football on 15th March, 2009, two years on from his initial suspension.
Messina were relegated to Serie B last season.
