CARDIFF City prodigy Aaron Ramsey has been the subject of a seven-figure bid from a Premiership club – after just 60 seconds of first-team action.
Bluebirds chairman Peter Ridsdale confirmed a London side – thought to be Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur – had made a £1m offer for the 16-year-old midfielder, but that City had rejected it point-blank.
Ramsey made his debut in the final minute of the Championship game against Hull City in April, breaking John ToshackÂ’s 41-year-old record as the youngest player to pull on a Bluebirds shirt.
But his performances for Cardiff in the FA Youth Cup, where they narrowly lost to Arsenal 3-2 in the quarter-finals, and his assured displays for Wales Under-17s against The Netherlands, Turkey and Belarus, have alerted clubs to his potential.
Ridsdale said: “We have had a seven-figure offer for Aaron, but we had absolutely no hesitation in turning it down.
“He is a young player with huge promise, but our aim is to see that promise fulfilled at Cardiff City.”
It is understood the offer for the Ysgol Cwm Rhymni pupil was made before City rejected a £1m bid from Everton for 17-year-old Chris Gunter.
