Royston Drenthe Linked With Madrid

Real Madrid are chasing Dutch under-21 star Royston Drenthe, with Pedja Mijatovic already having made contact over a possible move to the Bernabeu.
The youngster was the creative star of the victorious Dutch side at the under-21 Championships, having impressed one and all.
The 20-year-old Feyenoord man was the best player during the under-21 tournament, and several Premiership clubs have also been linked with him.
Real Madrid have been chasing promising youngsters - e.g. Gago, Marcelo, Higuain - aggressively over the last eight months, and the trend is set to continue this summer.
The left-footed player can play on either flank, and down the middle, making him another versatile creative midfielder.
Madrid want to replace David Beckham with a more natural playmaker, and though Kaka remains the first choice, Drenthe is fast emerging as the second.
It seems like they will not wait for the culmination of their chase for Kaka before moving for him. If they do not succeed in landing the Brazilian, the Dutchman can step into the first team. If they do, he can work as the under-study!
He could also play with Kaka, in an open left sided role as he did for the Netherlands. -
