Newcastle close in on Geremi deal

Chelsea utility man Geremi has emerged as the latest transfer target for Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce.
It is understood the Magpies are hopeful of signing the 28-year-old Cameroon star on a free transfer at the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
Geremi made 23 starts and five substitute appearances last season, but has never claimed a regular place.
Allardyce is believed to want to add Geremi's versatility to his squad as he rebuilds for next season.
Middlesbrough had also been linked with a move for Geremi, who spent a season on loan at The Riverside from Real Madrid earlier in his career, but they insist they have no interest. -

Anyway, Newcastle do need a utilityman.
