BOLTON are ready to hijack Everton’s move for Phil Jagielka with a £5million bid.
The England B international will quit Sheffield United as soon as their relegation to the Championship is rubber-stamped.
He has a £4m release clause in his contract at Bramall Lane — which Everton and Wigan are ready to trigger.
But Jagielka, 24, had indicated he would favour a move to Goodison Park with boss David Moyes making the midfielder his No 1 summer target.
Bolton chief Sammy Lee has now entered the race and is prepared to outbid Everton.
Blades will not sell until their arbitration hearing confirms relegation from the top flight.
Lee is confident he will keep star players Nicolas Anelka, El Hadji Diouf and Kevin Nolan — despite being linked with moves away.
He said: "TheyÂ’re Bolton players. ThereÂ’s nothing I can do about speculation."
