Valencia eye Anelka swoop

Reports emanating from the French press have claimed Nicolas Anelka is being eyed by Spanish side Valencia.
Despite having had just one season at Bolton, it has been widely reported that Anelka's sojourn in the North West could prove to be a short one.
The talented-but-temperamental Frenchman was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier in the summer and, while this seems unlikely, a return to either of his former clubs, Manchester City or Arsenal, could have more credence.
Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of his compatriot, having signed him from Paris Saint Germain, although the acrimonious circumstances of his departure from North London could prohibit his return.
City are awash with spending power following Thaksin Shinawatra's arrival and could be suitors but, if reports are to be believed, it is Valencia that are ready to make the first move.
The club's sporting director Miguel Angel Ruiz is known to be a fan of the player and would not be put off by a likely fee of around £10million.
It has also been reported that Villarreal, having sold Diego Forlan to Atletico Madrid, could be in the market for a big name striker. -
