Arsene Wenger will have a release clause inserted in his new £14million Arsenal contract, according to newspaper reports.
The News of the World claims the Gunners have offered the Frenchman a multi-million pound four-year deal to replace his current contract which expires at the end of next season.
Wenger has stalled on signing the proposed £3.5million-a-year deal and it is thought his refusal to pen an extension is having an unsettling effect on the playing squad at the Emirates Stadium.
Those concerns have apparently prompted the board to include an escape clause which allows him to walk out for free during any close season.
A 'top Arsenal source' told the News of the World: "Arsene is the life and soul of this club. He has been offered a new deal but will be allowed to leave for nothing at the end of every season if he chooses."
